Make An Impact Today
For every £1.50 donation you make, we have a wonderful opportunity to plant a tree in Kimilili, western Kenya.
Trees are the guardians of our environment, absorbing carbon dioxide, releasing oxygen, and mitigating the effects of pollution. By donating today, you become an eco-champion, contributing to the restoration of our planet and leaving a lasting legacy for future generations!
Our Tree Planting Project
Planting trees is our response to climate change, but we also believe that trees offer so much to a community. That’s why we’re using IcFEM Kenya’s network of local units to plant trees across western Kenya.
We do not own land, so we’re inviting smallholders to plant trees on their land. We’ve planted over 32,000 trees since 2022. They are growing rapidly as the conditions in this part of Kenya are ideal for fast growth. We’re aiming to plant 20,000 more during 2025 and, as our model is scalable, we hope to increase the number every year.
Our Model
1. Invite local farmers
We invite smallholders from across our local units to be a part of this project. The project is open to anyone who lives in the area around an IcFEM local transformation unit.
2. Provide training
Smallholders receive all the training necessary to ensure that they are able to take care of their trees at all stages of their lifecycle.
3. Provide tree saplings
Tree saplings are delivered to the smallholder and a short planting demonstration is done.
4. Farmers plant trees
Each tree that is planted is recorded on our specially built mobile application. This gives us real time data on how many trees have been planted, and where they are.
5. Farmers look after trees
Smallholders continue to receive support and advice on how to keep their trees healthy.
6. Farmers harvest produce from their trees
All produce from the trees belongs to the smallholders and they are free to use it as they wish.
7. Provide ongoing advice & support
Smallholders will work with IcFEM to assess the best use and maintenance of these trees.
Watch Our Forest Grow!
You can watch our tree forest grow through our interactive map. This shows the exact locations of the trees that have been planted so far.
How you can help
Trees cost just £1.50 to plant and we will send you an email with information about which species have been planted and where they have been planted.
You can plant single or multiple trees for yourself, and watch them grow and make an impact in communities in Kimilili. We believe that every tree has an impact!
