Our fundraising challenge went incredibly well, and we are so grateful to our friends at Beyond Finance who planned and hosted the whole event. And thank you for every message of encouragement and act of generosity that carried our team through.
Thanks to your support, we smashed our £40,000 goal, raising over £47,000 to date (including Gift Aid) – and every pound will be doubled, thanks to match funding. This means that over 130 children and adults in Kimilili will be able to have the orthopaedic surgery they need but often can’t afford.
Each runner and walker gave their all. Andy from Beyond Finance achieved an extraordinary milestone, completing 100 miles across the 24 hours. Becky, one of our trustees, ran an amazing 50 miles. Many others ran and walked the laps, and the atmosphere of determination and community was inspiring. Even a heavy downpour of rain on Thursday evening couldn’t dampen our spirits!
We were delighted to have Tim from Medical Aid International with us. He brought along examples of the equipment we’re fundraising for and helpfully explained the types of injuries the surgeries will be treating and the tools needed.
All in all, it was a wonderful occasion, and so good to see the community coming together to support patients at Dreamland Mission Hospital.
If you haven’t had a chance to donate yet, there is still time. Your gift will still be doubled and will help restore mobility, dignity and hope for families in Kimilili.

Why is this project important?
Cost of Surgery
Dreamland Mission Hospital is based in a rural area where access to good healthcare is limited and often unaffordable for the poorest people. For people in Kimilili, a broken bone can become a life-altering crisis. If metalwork, costing between £600-£900, is needed, it is simply unaffordable.
A Third Choice
Currently, for the majority of those who need complex orthopaedic surgery but can’t afford it, the options are to live with a limb that no longer functions, or face amputation. The choices are stark and devastating. We’re determined to change that and offer this surgery free of charge.
Saving Lives
The community is asking for help, and the hospital already has the theatre facilities in place. What’s missing are the funds to purchase the metalwork and cover the cost of surgery.
That’s where you come in.
