One of the most inspiring stories this month is that of Karimani Amos, a former DEC pupil who has now graduated with a Diploma in Orthopaedics and Trauma Medicine from Kenya Medical Training College. He writes:
My journey has been one of determination, hard work and faith. At DEC the encouragement and support of my teachers inspired me to dream big and pursue excellence in all that I did. After primary school, I joined St. Luke’s Boys High School. My years there were a time of growth, learning, and self-discovery. During this time, I became increasingly interested in healthcare and the profound impact that medical professionals have in improving the lives of others.
This passion led me to Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), where I pursued a Diploma in Orthopaedics and Trauma Medicine. The training was both challenging and rewarding, giving me essential clinical skills and teaching me the importance of compassion, professionalism, and teamwork. I graduated in December 2025.
I am now undertaking an internship at Dreamland Mission Hospital. It’s a privilege to serve patients, and apply the skills and knowledge I’ve gained. Each day presents new opportunities to learn, improve, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those entrusted to my care.
