Our hospital team recently had the pleasure of engaging with the boda boda community—the motorbike taxi drivers who are such a common part of daily life in Kenya. Mostly young men, these riders play a crucial role in transporting patients to and from our facilities, often serving as the first link between the community and essential healthcare. Their presence at the hospital gates is a familiar and reassuring sight as they wait, ready to help someone get where they need to go.

Our team spent time getting to know the boda boda riders, building connections and sharing information about the range of services available at the hospital. From Accident & Emergency care to CT scanning and comprehensive eye services, these conversations helped ensure that riders are better informed and equipped to guide patients when urgent or specialized care is needed.

As a small token of our appreciation for the important work they do every day, we also provided free sunglasses to help protect their eyes from the sun. It was a simple gesture, but one that reflected our gratitude and our commitment to supporting the wider community that supports us in return.
